Tree Removal & Tree Service in Meadow Woods, FL
Meadow Woods grew from a few thousand residents in 1990 to more than 43,000 by 2020, and its subdivisions were cut out of flat, wet pine land along Landstar Boulevard. We handle the oaks, pines and palms that grew up with those streets.
Meadow Woods Tree Service Between the Airport and Osceola
Meadow Woods is an unincorporated community in south Orange County, outside Orlando's city limits even though the mailing address says Orlando 32824. It sits between Orlando International Airport and the Osceola County line, with Lake Nona to the east, Hunters Creek and Southchase to the west and Buenaventura Lakes just south. Landstar Boulevard is the main north-south road, Wetherbee Road runs along the north, and SR-417 cuts through the middle with an interchange at Landstar.
Growth here came fast. The census counted under 5,000 residents in 1990 and nearly 44,000 in 2020, and a SunRail station opened at the northwest corner in 2018. Many streets were built in waves over that span, so one block may have 30-year-old oaks and the next may have trees planted a decade ago. The Meadow Woods Recreation Center and the South Orange Youth Sports Complex anchor the public side of the community.
Meadow Woods Tree Removal on Former Pine Flatwoods
Before the subdivisions, much of this land was flat pine country with wet prairies and cypress heads. Builders kept some of the slash pines along lot lines and pond edges, and those trees are now tall and narrow with small crowns. When the woods around them were cleared, they lost the shelter that kept wind off them. A lone 70-foot pine behind a fence is one of the most common removal calls we get here.
Retention ponds and canals tie the neighborhoods together, and they keep the water table high. Shallow roots and saturated sand make summer the riskiest season for wind-throw, especially for laurel oaks and pines. Palms do better in wet ground but still need dead fronds and fruit stalks taken off before storm season. If you are seeing palms brown out or lose their heads, our post on why palm trees die in Central Florida explains the common causes.
Meadow Woods Subdivisions and Roads We Cover
- Huntcliff Park: a gated neighborhood where we arrange gate access and work around community pool and playground areas.
- Sawgrass Plantation: pond-side lots with pines and oaks leaning toward the water.
- Wyndham Lakes Estates: homes along the lakes and Wyndham Lakes Boulevard, with palms and young oaks that need structural pruning early.
- Meadow Woods Village: some of the older streets, with larger laurel oaks over roofs and driveways.
- Landstar Boulevard corridor: homes and businesses near the SR-417 interchange, where trees over parking areas and signs need clearance.
- Wetherbee Road and the SunRail area: the north edge, mixing newer homes with commercial lots.

Tree Trimming in Meadow Woods for Smaller Yards
Lots here are mostly compact, with a fenced backyard, a screened patio or pool and a short front lawn. That shapes the work. We do a lot of crown raising so trees clear roofs and cars, thinning on oaks that block light from small lawns, and palm cleanup. Removals are usually done in pieces with ropes, because a fence and a neighbor's house are seldom more than a few feet away.
Electric service in Meadow Woods comes from Duke Energy or OUC depending on the street, and the boundary is not obvious from a map. Your bill will tell you. Either way, the utility handles anything touching an energized line, and we take care of the rest of the tree.
Stumps, roots and young trees
Because so many Meadow Woods yards are small, a leftover stump takes up real space. We grind stumps below grade so you can lay sod or plant again, and we rake the chips out or leave them as mulch, your choice. Young oaks planted by builders in the newer sections are worth a light structural prune in their first ten years. Removing a competing leader or a low, heavy limb now costs far less than dealing with a split trunk after the tree is 40 feet tall. We will tell you if a young tree is fine as it is.
Orange County Tree Rules in Meadow Woods
Meadow Woods follows Orange County's tree protection and removal rules, not the City of Orlando's. The county's permit guidance says a single-family or duplex lot needs a tree removal permit when it is larger than two acres with an occupied home, or when the lot is vacant. Typical Meadow Woods homes sit on far less than two acres, so a county permit is rarely needed for an existing house, but we confirm it for your address each time.

Subdivision HOAs are the more likely approval step, and trees on pond banks often sit on common tracts the HOA owns. Florida Statute 163.045 lets a homeowner skip county permits for a tree that an ISA certified arborist or Florida licensed landscape architect documents as a danger, though HOA covenants still apply.
What Tree Removal Costs in Meadow Woods
Here is how prices tend to fall on Meadow Woods lots. A tall slash pine behind a fence usually lands in the $900 to $1,900 range because it has to come down in sections. Removing a smaller ornamental or young oak is often $350 to $900. Grinding the stump runs $100 to $450, and trimming a palm is $90 to $300 apiece. When a storm puts a tree on the roof at night, the emergency premium of 25 to 50 percent is written on the estimate before we cut. More on budgets is in our tree removal cost guide.

Questions
Questions About Tree Work in Meadow Woods
No. Meadow Woods is an unincorporated community in Orange County. Addresses use Orlando and ZIP 32824, but tree rules come from Orange County's code, not the city's. Many subdivisions also have their own HOA with its own approval steps. We check both the county rule and the HOA before we schedule a removal.
For a typical home, usually not from the county. Orange County's guidance requires a permit on single-family lots over two acres with an occupied house, or on vacant lots. Most Meadow Woods lots are much smaller. Your HOA may still require approval, especially for front-yard trees or trees on a pond bank.
Many slash pines were left standing when the subdivisions were cleared, so they grew up in a forest and now stand alone. They are tall, with small crowns and shallow roots in wet sand. In strong wind they can snap or tip. We look at lean, crown health, bark beetle signs and root soil before recommending removal.
Yes. For gated communities we arrange access with you ahead of time, whether that is a gate code, a guest pass or a call to the gate. Let us know about any rules for work hours or truck parking, and we plan around them. We keep the street clear and clean up before we leave.
Meadow Woods is split between Duke Energy and OUC depending on the street, so check your electric bill. Call that utility right away if a tree or limb is on a line or wires are sparking. Once the line is safe, we can remove the tree and haul off the debris.
Most tall pines in fenced Meadow Woods backyards cost $900 to $1,900 to remove because they need climbing and rigging. Very large pines near houses, or ones that need a crane, can run higher. We give a flat written price on site, and cleanup and haul-off are included.
Sometimes. Brown fronds can mean normal aging, nutrient deficiency, cold damage or a disease like lethal bronzing, which affects sabal and other palms in Central Florida. We can trim off dead fronds and tell you if the pattern looks like something more serious. A dying palm with a collapsed head should come down before it drops.
Yes. Many Meadow Woods homes are rentals with owners out of town. We coordinate access with tenants or property managers, send photos before and after the work, and provide a written estimate by email. Pricing is the same as for any other home, with no surcharge for owners who live out of state.
